Overcoming the Crisis of TB and AIDS


Keystone Symposia announced the first meeting in its 2009-2010 Global Health Series - Overcoming the Crisis of TB and AIDS, to be held October 20-25, 2009 at the Arusha International Conference Centre in Arusha, Tanzania. The conference will commence following the conclusion of the Grand Challenges in Global Health meeting and will consist of four days of plenary and poster sessions.

Talks will be divided into the following categories:

~ The TB and AIDS Crisis and its Impact on Life
~ Vaccines/Drugs Overview
~ Special Lecture: James Nachtwey, Time Magazine - The Human Impact of TB and AIDS
~ TB/HIV
~ Delivery
~ Vaccines/Drugs

Fifty percent of AIDS deaths globally are precipitated by TB. The meeting will provide an invaluable opportunity to gain deeper insights into the immune pathology and deadly synergism between HIV and TB in order to identify new ways to solve this global catastrophe by way of basic scientific discovery, and the development and delivery of vaccines, drugs and care.
